The Board of Directors includes the owner of 9b, a non-executive 9b employee, and three independent members representing our customers, community, and environment. The Board meets semi-annually to review our company's performance.
Ashley Philippsen
Senior Director of Engagement and Advocacy | ImpactTulsa
Ashley Harris Philippsen is a systems, culture, and equity coach with over a decade of experience in education, leadership development, civic engagement, and school and curriculum design.
Ashley uses her experience to partner with students and families, districts, and partner organizations as they navigate system complexities. Through her career, with roles including Executive Director at Met Cares, Managing Director of Teacher Leadership Development at Teach For America, and Founding Dean of Students at YES Prep Public Schools, Ashley has developed skills in small and large team management, effective program design and implementation, strategic thinking and planning. As the Deputy Chief of Community Development and Policy at the City of Tulsa, she was responsible for designing and facilitating community engagement processes for urban planning and development, amongst other City initiatives. As ImpactTulsa’s Senior Director of Community Engagement and Advocacy, Ashley partners with teams to drive policy, systems-change, and programs that create sustainable outcomes for students in the Greater Tulsa area.
Ashley graduated with honors from the University of Oklahoma. She has been a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated for nearly two decades and serves on the Greater Tulsa African American Affairs Commission. She is a Tulsa Development Authority trustee and serves on the board at Met Cares Foundation, 9b Corp, and Tulsa Area Human Resources Association.
Nathan Pickard
Chief Executive Officer, Founder | 9b
Nathan Pickard has 15 years of experience as a data analyst and IT auditor. Nathan founded 9b in 2018 after receiving consulting requests from several local clients while also developing an interest in Certified B Corps. Nathan has spent as many years as a community organizer, leading reforestation and edible garden projects in the area just north of downtown Tulsa. He saw starting his own B Corp as a way to expand these initiatives and support others in the community.
Before 9b, Nathan helped establish a data analytics program at Williams. There, he worked directly for the Vice President of Audit, and while assigned to a vendor cost recovery team, created a tool that discovered over $10 million in over-billings. Nathan built his first data analytics project at the City of Tulsa, where he worked for seven years. His expenditure analysis was used by then Mayor Kathy Taylor to target large areas of spend across departments. The City of Tulsa is now a 9b client.
Nathan is proficient in Galvanize, Arbutus, and Tableau software and a Certified Internal Auditor and Certified Information Systems Auditor. He has been a speaker on urban farming and regenerative agriculture at Oklahoma Public Health Association Annual Conference, Oklahoma Food Security Summits, and similar engagements. He earned his MBA from Oklahoma Christian University and a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Northeastern State University.
Bill White
Founder | The Greenwood Experience
Bill White is the founder of The Greenwood Experience, a community organization that promotes positive images and events of African American people through art, ideas, and cultural experiences to encourage intercultural exchanges.
Some of Bill’s recent local projects are: the Black Wall Street Exhibit at the Tulsa International Airport, "Welcome to Greenwood","Remembering Black Wall Street", and the "Black Wall Street" mural. These place makers have created foot traffic and countless photo opportunities and served as the backdrop of several local and national live telecasts. Additionally for the past two years Bill has run the Greenwood Farmers & Artisans Market, which has been well-received by the community.
Bill is a transplant from Portland, Oregon. He holds a BA in Real Estate from Morehouse College in Atlanta and a BBA in Accounting (and is a CPA candidate) from Langston University. His very first venture was a leaf-raking business at the age of 12. Bill is a business professional motivated by creating outside-the-box opportunities to bring long-term value and continual growth within an organization or business. He understands the fundamental value of leveraging strong relationships that are built on trust, integrity, and mutual respect to develop and maintain a successful business.
Before relocating to Tulsa, Bill worked as a master claims adjuster, insurance agent, and was the owner of William White Auctions, which held benefit and real estate auctions. Bill decided it was time for a change of scenery (and weather) and moved his family to his wife’s hometown of Tulsa to take advantage of the many development and business opportunities.
Not afraid of a challenge or fear of the unknown, Bill never takes “no” for a final answer in the pursuit of
what he is passionate about or believes in. In addition to having a keen eye to spot great business
ventures, Bill’s enthusiasm for entrepreneurial development allows him to see things not as they are but
what they could be.
A lover of life, travel and entrepreneurial challenges, Bill enjoys spending time with his family including
his wife and three sons, playing, coaching, and attending sporting events and looking for the next

Alyssa Doty
Director of Operations | Poetic Justice
Alyssa Doty has over 20 years of experience working in the nonprofit and community development world and 15 years of program management.
She is the Director of Operations at Poetic Justice, a Tulsa-based nonprofit organization that offers restorative writing and creative arts programs to women who are incarcerated. Alyssa supports 9b as a project manager and as a liaison between our analysts and local nonprofit organizations.
After spending most of her childhood in Venezuela, Alyssa returned to the U.S. to complete her undergraduate degree in Oklahoma. For six years she lived in Colorado where she completed her master’s degree and worked in Community Health Research. She moved to Tulsa in 2009. Her focus throughout her career has been on community development with a focus on community health, education, and social justice.
Alyssa earned her master's in Medical Anthropology from the University of Denver in Colorado, a certification in Public Health from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, and her bachelor’s in Interdisciplinary Studies from Oklahoma Baptist University.
Molly Jones
Architect, President | Jones Design Studio
Molly A. Jones, AIA is an Oklahoma Architect, NCARB certificate holder, LEED ® Accredited Professional, Green Globes Professional, Guiding Principles Compliance Professional, and DBIA Professional with over 25 years experience in the profession. She has designed and managed large and small projects for private and federal clients with vast experience across many building types and project delivery methods.
Her passion is sustainable design and construction. She founded Jones Design Studio, PLLC (JDS) to create beautiful, sustainable, regenerative architecture. JDS is Oklahoma’s First JUST™ Organization. JUST™ is a voluntary transparency program that rates an organization’s social justice and equity based on specific and measurable accountabilities.
Molly maintains LEED specialty credentials in both Building Design and Construction and Existing Buildings Operations and Maintenance. Her LEED experience spans across nearly 100 projects accounting for 6.5 million square feet and $1 billion in construction value. Her experience is in demand across the nation. She is regularly called upon to help solve some of the most complex challenges sustainable projects face.
Molly design projects focus on sustainable living and community-building. She designed the first project in Oklahoma seeking certification as a Living Building. This project, called The Joinery is currently under construction. She is also actively working with co-housing communities in Northeast Oklahoma to help build more livable, sustainable communities.
Molly is an expert at assisting federal clients comply with evolving sustainability requirements. She advises NASA headquarters on the implementation of sustainability requirements across the agency. Molly is also a skilled leader in teaching sustainability. Her most notable work in this area is the development of an intensive training course for NASA headquarters entitled "Introduction to Sustainable Facilities."
